On October 8, the Speaker of the RA National Assembly Ara Babloyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Armenia Richard Mills, who visited the parliament on the completion of his diplomatic mission.
Welcoming the guest, the RA NA Speaker expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for the efforts aimed at the development of the Armenian-American relations, the fruitful and effective work done during these years and wished him successes in his further activities.
According to Ara Babloyan, the bilateral cooperation has developed upwards during recent years, which has stemmed from the two countries' interests: due to consistent and purposeful work considerable achievements have been recorded in numerous spheres. The RA NA Speaker has underlined that the inter-parliamentary ties that have been rather active in recent period, occupy an important place in bilateral relations.
The Head of the RA Parliament highly appreciated the support shown by the U.S. through many years in strengthening of democracy, and the reforms being implemented in different spheres.
During the meeting the sides touched upon the recent events in Armenia. In this context Ara Babloyan has underscored that during the international meetings, he as RA NA Speaker, permanently urges his colleagues to assist the RA new government for further strengthening economy and democracy in the country.
“We should continue making efforts in order Armenia goes on through democracy, all issues be solved in the atmosphere of dialogue, negotiations and discussions, protecting the country from possible shocks, ” the Head of the RA legislative body stated. Richard Mills highly assessed Ara Babloyan's this position.
Thanking for the warm words the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia said: “ I greatly appreciate the fruitful cooperation our countries have enjoyed during my time as the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia. I am confident that the United States government will continue to support the Armenian people in their path towards a strong and independent Parliament. ”
