On February 22, the President of the Republic of Lebanon Michel Aoun being on an official visit in Armenia visited the RA National Assembly, where he met with the RA NA President Ara Babloyan.

The RA NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, representatives of the NA Factions and members of Armenia-Lebanon Friendship Group took part in the meeting.

Welcoming the President of the Republic of Lebanon and the members of the delegation headed by him in the parliament, Ara Babloyan expressed hope that this visit would promote the strengthening and deepening of bilateral relations.

The Head of the parliament evaluated the political relations between Armenia and Lebanon, conditioning them by centuries-old friendship, historical connections and the great role of the Armenian community.

Ara Babloyan highly assessed Michel Aoun’s contribution to the stability, security and development of Lebanon.

Talking about the Lebanese Armenian community, the Head of the parliament has documented that, first of all, they are devoted citizens of Lebanon and have a full role in the political, economic, social, cultural and educational life of the country.

Ara Babloyan emphasized the necessity of strengthening of the Armenian-Lebanese inter-parliamentary relations and the cooperation of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups.

The President of the Republic of Lebanon thanked the RA NA President for the warm reception, noting that he was glad to visit Armenia.

In Michel Aoun’s word, Lebanon is a country of cultural diversity, where people of different nationalities and faiths live united side by side, respecting each other. Touching upon the regional problems, the President of Lebanon highlighted the provision of security and stability.

At the end of the meeting the President of Lebanon left a note in the Book of Honourable Guests of the RA National Assembly.
