Galust Sahakyan’s Congratulatory Message on Constitution Day
1 / 1

“Dear compatriots,

I congratulate you on Constitution Day,

We, as a nation, have an old and rich history, but our history of state is not still so voluminous. Since the end of the 20th century the history of the Armenian statehood has been completed with full and victorious period, and the Constitution adopted in 1995, became the most important guideline in that history and in the process of state building, today continuing to remain like that together with all its amendments.

The adoption of the Constitution as a significant event, in terms of chronicle is a part of the history of the country; however, it is also a historical document with its mission and importance. All of us live in its territory, move by the path marked by it, including also those who partially or completely do not agree with the provisions of the Constitution. But the Constitution itself gives such an opportunity, affirming all democratic principles and freedoms, and freely gives the right to the citizens to be guided by their convictions, dictated by their conscience and perceptions.

A few months ago due to the crucial reforms made in the Constitution radical moves were indicated in our state and public-political life, our citizens got a great opportunity to more actively and widely take part in the administration of the state. It means wider execution of human rights and fundamental freedoms with their all manifestations, more active and initiating society, and firmer statehood. I am convinced that in these conditions we’ll take together more confident steps on the path of making our country stronger and more democratic.

Once again congratulating on Constitution Day, I wish you happiness and welfare, peace and prosperity to our country,” the RA NA President’s message reads.
