On March 25, RA NA Chairman Artur Baghdasaryan accepted Marina Dolgopolova, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Armenia.

The sides discussed issues concerning the implementation of agreements reached during the NA Chairman’s official visit to the Republic of Belarus.

The visit gave a serious impetus to the development of interstate relations, efforts are being made towards fulfilling the aforementioned agreements, Ms. Dolgopolova pointed out. In particular, firstly, talks began on setting up mini-tractor assembling enterprise by Minsk tractor plant and Charentsavan Car-Construction Plant after the return of the delegation headed by NA Chairman to Armenia.

Secondly, prospects of setting up joint assembling enterprise of Belarus refrigerators and TV sets at Vanadzor Electron Plant are being considered.

Thirdly, on the proposal of the RA National Assembly, RA National Academy of Sciences will leave for Minsk to sign the inter-partnership agreement between the academies of the two republics in April.

Fourthly, an agreement between Polytechnic and other higher educational institutions of the two countries will be signed during the forthcoming visit of Sergo Yeritsyan, the RA Minister of Education and Science, to the Republic of Belarus within the framework of the agreements reached.

Fifthly, some activities aiming at specifying regional cooperation directions have also been undertaken, in particular, some projects exist between the Minsk region and Syunik marz, agreements were reached on establishing cooperation with other marzes as well.

Sixthly, a timetable on convening joint conference on local and regional administration will be elaborated. Armenian and Belarus parties have settled to convene a conference during a meeting with Belarus Parliament’s governing body.

Other issues of cooperation were also discussed during the meeting.
