Ararat Mirzoyan Receives Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the Council of Representatives of Iraq

The President of the RA National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan received the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the Council of Representatives of the Republic of Iraq led by the Committee Chairman Sherko Merwaes.

Welcoming the guests Ararat Mirzoyan has expressed satisfaction that political serious dialogue takes place between Armenia and Iraq, activation in the economic relations of the two countries is also noticed.

The NA President presented to his colleagues the situation existing around the Nagorno Karabakh conflict after the Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression. He has underlined that, in contrast with tripartite statement, Azerbaijan does not fulfill its obligation on returning the prisoners of war and other detained persons, moreover, it continues its Anti-Armenian policy. The new manifestation of what he said is the opening of “the park” recently.

Thanking the NA President, Sherko Merwaes highly assessed the position on Iraq by the Armenian side and the support provided on the international platforms.

The Committee Chairman has noted that the memoranda on cooperation in different spheres have the most important role within the frameworks of the activation of the relations between the two countries.

During the meeting issues of cooperation in different spheres were discussed. Both sides underscored that the Iraqi parliamentarians’ visit could give new impetus in deepening of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
