On June 10 RA NA President Artur Baghdasaryan had a private talk with Arturas Paulauskas, Chairman of the Lithuanian Parliament, who was on an official visit in Armenia.

The NA President informed the Chairman of the Lithuanian Parliament about the legislative amendments taking place in Armenia, noting that Armenia adopted the way of Euro Integration and highlights having legislation in compliance with European standards. In that respect, the study of the Lithuanian experience was highlighted as a new country, which joined the European Union, with which as former USSR countries, there are historic, economic and cultural commonness. They also touched upon the regional policy of Armenia: Artur Baghdasaryan noted that Armenia is for normal relations and cooperation with all its neighbours. Moreover, he speaks for the outgrowing of the parliamentary assembly into South Caucasus parliamentary initiative, which will become a good tribune for trilateral discussions. Artur Baghdasaryan also elaborated on 3+3 format cooperation of Baltic republics and South Caucasus republics, which was evaluated perspective and efficient in the aspect of experience exchange and development.

Arturas Paulauskas, Chairman of the Lithuanian Parliament, considered the aim of his visit the development of relations, getting familiarized with the situation. He also highlighted the parliamentary cooperation between two countries and especially the Lithuanian experience of Euro Integration, which was summed up in four years adopting about 1000 laws, transferring that to Armenia, which will promote to avoid own mistakes taking into account the others’ mistakes. Mr. Paulauskas noted that in 2007 Lithuania will be already ready to use Euro and it is considered a good criteria for economic development, to which not all countries, that joined EU, reached.

During the meeting in the atmosphere of mutual understanding the possibilities of deepening of inter-parliamentary relations, regional cooperation, establishment of friendly relations between the cities and regions and the implementation of concrete programmes under the auspices of parliaments, development of economic, scientific-cultural relations. Arturas Paulauskas, Chairman of the Lithuanian Parliament invited NA President Artur Baghdasaryan to Lithuania on an official visit.
