The delegation comprised of the RA NA deputies Vahram Baghdasaryan, Sasun Mikayelyan and Romik Manukyan, led by the RA NA President Ara Babloyan arrived in the Republic of Tajikistan on an official visit.

On October 30, in Dushanbe the RA NA President and the members of the delegation had meetings with Shukurjon Zuhurov, the President of the Lower Chamber and Mahmadsaid Ubaydolloyev, the President of the Upper Chamber of the Tajik Parliament.

During the meetings the sides have documented that the Armenian-Tajik relations affectively develop and high level of political dialogue exists. From now on the interlocutors expressed readiness to develop the inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The RA NA President Ara Babloyan has noted that this year sees the 25^th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian-Tajik diplomatic relations and the cooperation based on friendship and mutual understanding is strengthened in different directions. In further deepening of inter-state relations the RA NA President highlighted the mutual visits at state level and in this context underlined the visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Armenia.

The cooperation of the legislative bodies of the two countries was touched upon. The sides underscored that the Friendship Groups functioning in the parliaments can be of significant importance in the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue.

Issues concerning the cooperation in the inter-parliamentary structures were discussed. By Mr Babloyan’s assessment, the sides should use the existing potential on this platform to promote the adoption of the bilaterally beneficial decisions. Ara Babloyan emphasized the effective cooperation of the delegates of Armenia and Tajikistan, particularly in the IPA CIS and the CSTO PA.

The RA NA President stressed the favourable attitude of the Tajik authorities towards the Armenian community.

Both sides also referred to the NK conflict settlement. The heads of the parliaments stated that the main problem should be solved exclusively through peaceful negotiations within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship.

The parties also talked about the development of cooperation in the trade-economic sphere and the implementation of the perspective programmes.
