Eduard Sharmazanov Meets with IPA CIS Council Secretary General

The working visit of the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov to Saint Petersburg continues.

On September 26, in Tavricheskiy (Tauride) Palace the RA NA Deputy Speaker met with the Secretary General of the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) Aleksey Sergeev. The RA NA Permanent Representative to the IPA CIS Hayk Chilingaryan also attended the meeting.

In the course of the meeting the sides discussed issues relating to the organization of the upcoming session of the IPA CIS Council. The RA NA Deputy Speaker has underlined that the Armenian delegation is actively involved in the PA works and committees.

Eduard Sharmazanov expressed gratitude to Aleksey Sergeev for supporting the organisation of the events being held on his initiative dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the well-acclaimed Orientalist and Armenologist, the Founding President of the Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Academician Hovsep Orbeli.

The interlocutors touched upon the integration processes in the CIS region. In this context the RA NA Deputy Speaker has underlined that the positive influence on the RA economy after joining the EEC.

Touching upon the regional problems, Eduard Sharmazanov noted that the conflicts in the CIS region should be exclusively solved through peaceful means, taking into consideration the principle of the peoples’ compulsory freedom of expression.
