On December 1, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Hovhannes Sahakyan met with the Members of the Delegation of the OSCE Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Office, OSCE/ODIHR Election Adviser Alexey Gromov, OSCE/ODIHR Senior Election Adviser Richard Lappin and the Loic Poulain Programme Officer. I ssues concerning the upcoming parliamentary elections were discussed.
Hovhannes Sahakyan thoroughly presented to the guests the amendments made in the Electoral Code, noting that the draft law has passed as a result of political agreement between the opposition and power. He has assured that all conditions are created for holding the upcoming national elections at due level. Mr Sahakyan has underlined that the parliamentary elections of 2017 are of importance for the RA authorities, and it can become the key of the development of our country.
The Committee Chairman also touched upon the video shooting and broadcasting process, the standards established for the installation of video cameras, the conditions of public awareness about the amendments, the participation of the mass media representatives to the electoral processes, the provision defining criminal responsibility in case of providing false information on the elections, the complaint order of the election results and other issues.
At the end of the meeting the guests expressed readiness to cooperate from now on too.
