Meeting at RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations

On December 1, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Armenia George Saganelidze.

Welcoming the Ambassador, Artak Zakaryan congratulated him on the occasion of holding successful parliamentary elections in Georgia and beginning the works of the parliament of the new convocation. In this context Mr Zakarian on behalf of the Committee led by him expressed readiness to continue the effective cooperation formed with the similar Committee of the newly elected parliament.

Thanking the Committee Chair for the reception, George Saganelidze highlighted the deepening of cooperation between the parliaments of the friendly countries. He also talked about the necessity of the development of cooperation in different spheres and the implementation of the joint programmes. The Ambassador expressed readiness to support the development of the inter-parliamentary cooperation within the frameworks of his authority.

The interlocutors touched upon the development and deepening of the firm friendly ties formed between the two countries and the peoples and the traditional warm relations. In that issue the activities of the parliamentary friendship groups was also highlighted.

Artak Zakaryan talked about the issues concerning the Armenian and Georgian parliamentarians’ cooperation in different parliamentary international platforms. The readiness of hosting the regular joint sitting with the Committee on Foreign Relations of the newly elected parliament of Georgia has also been noted.

During the talk George Saganelidze presented a number of problems concerning Georgia’s foreign policy.

Artak Zakaryan has noted that the Armenian parliamentarians state with satisfaction the active and mutually beneficial cooperation development dynamics of the Armenian and Georgian authorities existing at different levels.

In the course of the meeting a number of regional issues were also discussed.
