Issues on International Parliamentary Scholarship Program are Debated
1 / 3

On September 1, the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Culture, Youth and Sport, Head of the NA Armenia-Germany friendship group Artak Davtyan met with German Bundestag MP Klaus-Peter Flosbach and the delegation led by him.

The aim of the delegation visit was to select Armenian scholars for the International Parliamentary Scholarship Program.

Let us note that the German Bundestag jointly with the universities of Berlin allocates 120 scholarships for the young alumni of higher educational institutions of over 40 courtiers each year. The Bundestag gives the young people an opportunity to get acquainted with the German parliamentary system and political decision-making process, as well as gain experience in the parliamentary sphere.

Artak Davtyan expressed his gratitude to the German authorities for the balanced position over the NK conflict settlement, as well as to the German Bundestag for the adoption of the resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide. He highlighted the concrete steps towards the fulfillment of the resolution directions.

Klaus-Peter Flosbach presented in detail the peculiarities of the program and assured that unbiased selection of scholarships is being conducted by the Bundestag MPs. He spotlighted the fact that a reciprocal program is implemented by the Armenian Parliament.

Speaking about the resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide, the MP mentioned, “Both in Europe and in our country, only by assessing the past, we can look at the future.”

During the meeting the parties touched upon the importance of the mutual visits, they exchanged thoughts on the peculiarities of both countries’ parliamentary work and highlighted exchange of experience in that regard. The guests presented the purpose and activities of the German Bundestag’s research service. It was mentioned that there is a rather active cooperation on scientific-educational programs between the two courtiers’ higher educational institutions.
