RA NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan Meets Deputy Marshal of Polish Sejm Ryszard Terlecki

On August 30, within the framework of “Solidarity and Sovereignty” parliamentary meeting of Central and Eastern European countries launched in Warsaw , the capital of Poland , Hermine Naghdalyan met with the Deputy Marshal of the Polish Sejm Ryszard Terlecki.

Welcoming his Armenian partner under his own roof, the Deputy Marshal of the Polish Sejm highly assessed interstate relations between the two countries which distinguish with an agenda of deep content. In this context several high-level visits were mutually highlighted, including at the level of the Presidents of the two countries. 

As an important component of interstate relations, the role of interparliamentary cooperation between the two high-ranking parliamentarians was spotlighted for the development of which the activities of parliamentary friendship groups are essential.  

The RA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan greatly emphasized in her turn the Armenian-Polish cooperation not only at bilateral, but also multilateral format. In this context the NA Deputy Speaker underscored the importance of developing constructive interaction between the representatives of the two friendly countries within the framework of international parliamentary assemblies.  Hermine Naghdalyan mentioned that Poland is one of Armenia ’s important partners in Armenia-EU relations. According to the NA Deputy Speaker, as an EEU member state Armenia continues consistently expanding the partnership agenda with the EU.  

Touching upon the challenges of foreign policy, the provision of guarantee of security and peace in the region was mutually emphasized. Mrs Naghdalyan highly appreciated the adoption of resolution on recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland back in 2005.  Referring to one of the significant issues of Armenia’s foreign policy, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Hermine Naghdalyan draw her Polish partner’s attention to military operations unleashed by Azerbaijan in April and the casualties inflicted as a result, among civilians as well.   

“In the given conditions it is impossible to cast doubt on the NK people’s right to self-determination as it refers to the physical existence of the people”, - emphasized Hermine Naghdalyan in her word, stressing that though Armenia positively assesses the condemnation of violence of ceasefire regime by the international community, however, general and unaddressed condemnation is not enough to restrain the party responsible for the large-scale military confrontation.      

At the end of the meeting Hermine Naghdalyan expressed her gratitude to the Polish partner for the warm reception and the meeting.
