On November 15 RA NA Speaker Artur Baghdasaryan had a private talk with Arnold Rüütel, President of the Republic of Estonia, being in Armenia on an official visit. The RA NA Speaker highlighted the development of the inter-parliamentary relations within the framework of the Armenian-Estonian interstate ties (there are Parliamentary Friendship Groups established in both parliaments of the countries) and the exchange of legislative experience accumulated during the years of independence. President of the Republic of Estonia Arnold Rüütel noted with gratitude that the meetings in Armenia will become a serious stimulus for the development of the Estonian - Armenian relations in the political, economic, scientific cultural and trade- industrial spheres.

Then the Chairmen of the Standing Committees, members of the groups and factions met with the President of the Republic of Estonia Arnold Rüütel. During the meeting the issues of development of inter-parliamentary relations and the cooperation issues of international structures were discussed. The implementation of Estonia’s experience as a member of EU within the framework of“Wider Europe: New Neighbourhood” programme was especially highlighted. Both sides stressed the importance of the productive work of Parliamentary Friendship Groups, which will enable to work closer at a level of committees. During the meeting the opportunities of regional cooperation (at a level of parliaments of South Caucasus and Baltic countries), the issues of continuation of friendship relations between the cities of two countries and inter-departmental cooperation strengthening were also discussed in the atmosphere of mutual understanding. The President of the Republic of Estonia Arnold Rüütel expressed his country’s readiness for close cooperation with Armenia.
