On June 30, the RA NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov received the Head of the Armenian Diocese in France, His Grace Bishop Vahan Hovhannisyan.

Welcoming the guest, the NA Vice President has underlined the unique role of the Holy Armenian Apostolic Church in the maintenance and preservation of the Armenian identity, spiritual, cultural and Christian values of France.

“It is necessary to sow patriotic and Christian values among the Diaspora youth: in this matter it is very important the role of the Armenian Apostolic Church,” the NA Vice President noted.

Eduard Sharmazanov was interested in the problems of France’s Armenian community, the steps taken for the preservation of Armenian identity, the existence of Armenian schools in France and expressed readiness for support.

The interlocutors touched upon the bill anticipating criminal responsibility for the denial of the Armenian Genocide being circulated in the parliament of France.

The Head of the Armenian Diocese in France, His Grace Bishop Vahan Hovhannisyan thanked the NA Vice President for the warm reception, presented the achievements and problems of about 1mln Armenian community, and highlighted the dissemination of the Armenian culture and making it recognizable for the foreigners.
