Artak Zakaryan Receives Special Representative on South Caucasus to OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

On May 24, the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan received the Special Representative on South Caucasus to OSCE PA Kristian Vigenin. The Head of the RA NA Delegation to OSCE PA Artashes Geghamyan also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the guest Artak Zakaryan touched upon the process of the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh problem, talked about the current situation of the conflict. The Committee Chairman has considered inadmissible the solution of the problem through military means and has noted that Armenia is for peace. “Armenia, very well understanding that it is responsible for the peace in the region, does everything possible that the problem will be solved through peaceful means,” Artak Zakaryan said.

At the guest’s request the Committee Chairman touched upon the regional problems, Armenia-European Union relations, presented the procedure of the Constitutional reforms implemented in Armenia, also talked about amendments being made in the electoral process and views existing over the new Electoral Code.

Thanking the Committee Chairman for the reception the Special Representative on South Caucasus to OSCE PA Kristian Vigenin has noted that the OSCE PA highlights the peaceful solution of Nagorno Karabakh problem and expressed readiness to promote the OSCE Minsk Group’s mediatory efforts during his activities.

The interlocutors also talked about Armenia-Bulgaria inter-parliamentary relations and highlighted the development of cooperation of the legislative bodies of the two countries.

During the discussion the sides also emphasized the increase of the OSCE Monitoring authorities and capabilities on Karabakh-Azerbaijani line of contact, preservation of the ceasefire stable regime, as well as the implementation of the mechanisms of the detailed investigation of every case of ceasefire violation.
