On February 18, the Euronest PA Bureau Regular Meeting was held in the European Parliament, in Brussels, where the Head of the Armenian Delegation to Euronest PA, the Vice President of the Assembly Artak Zakaryan took part.

At the session issues relating to the agenda of the Fifth Plenary Session to be held on March 21-23, 2016 were discussed. Taking into consideration the situation created within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, issues on the modification of the Euronest PA structure, the expansion of the involvement in the structures of the Assembly were discussed.

At the upcoming Plenary Session the Assembly will discuss and submit for approval four reports on political, economic, energy and humanitarian themes. The co-author of the report being prepared on behalf of the Committee on Political Affairs, Human Rights and Democracy is Artak Zakaryan. It is dedicated to the theme “Common positions and concerns of the EU Member States and Eastern European partner countries over foreign policies and external threats to their security.”

At the Bureau Meeting the recommendation on leaving for Baku of the Assembly Co-Presidents to return the Azerbaijani Delegation will be discussed, which was also discussed beforehand in the joint consultation of the political groups of the European Parliament.

At October special meeting of the previous year the Azerbaijani Parliament as a step of dissatisfaction aimed at the adoption of the critical resolutions on Azerbaijan by the European Parliament, made a decision to suspend its participation in the Euronest PA works. In his speech Artak Zakaryan reminded the members of the Bureau about this issue that from the first day of the establishment of the Euronest PA the Azerbaijani Delegation made a report on its anti-Armenian activities and continuously marred with its deconstructive steps the joint initiatives stemming from the logic of multilateral activity.

The Head of the Armenian Delegation has noted that they will not mind if the Euronest PA Co-Chairs try to return the Azerbaijani Delegation, but it should not be at the expense of the Euronest PA authority and it should not inspire the Azerbaijani MPs to carry on their policy directed against human rights, democracy and Pan-European values and the provoking manifestations aimed at the partner delegations. Artak Zakaryn considered important the realization of the circumstance by the Azerbaijanis that neither the Euronest PA and nor other parliamentary formats serve as platforms for conflict settlements.

Artak Zakaryan assured that within the framework of the Euronest PA the Armenian Delegation will not let the Azerbaijani side to distort in any way the Karabakh-Azerbaijani peaceful settlement.
