On October 12 the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan received the delegation led by Michaëlle Jean, the Secretary General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie.
Welcoming the guests in the parliament, Galust Sahakyan highlighted the holding of the 31st La Francophonie Conference in Armenia, which witnesses to the importance of the institutional relations connecting Armenia to Francophonie.
In the course of the meeting Galust Sahakyan highlighted the full support shown by La Francophonie to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs in the issue of the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, which found its reflection in the Resolution on the crisis situations in the Francophonie territory, on getting out of the crisis and strengthening of peace, adopted during Dakar Summit. The Head of the Parliament thanked Mrs Michaëlle Jean for making special statement on the Armenian Genocide Centennial. The Head of the Parliament reminded that on March 31 of this year the Yerevan Forum of the European Regional Sections of the International Organisation of La Francophonie unanimously adopted a Resolution on the Armenian Genocide.
Thanking for the warm reception, Michaëlle Jean, the Secretary General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie, highly assessed the active participation of Armenia in the International Organisation of La Francophonie. Michaëlle Jean, touching upon the Armenian Genocide, in particular, said: “That page of Armenia’s history is for the whole world. We should together do everything so that people remember, recognize and fight for, so that such a thing will not be repeated. Armenia should realize that he is not alone: we are together.”
