Galust Sahakyan Receives the Ambassador of Japan

On May 20 the President of the National Assembly received Chikahito Harada, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Armenia, who visited the parliament on the occasion of the completion of the diplomatic mission in the RA. Highly assessing the Armenian-Japanese relations, the NA President has noted that they are anchored on friendship and mutual trust. He has documented that the friendly relations have been more enlivened especially after the RA President’s visit to Japan. Galust Sahakyan has highlighted the contacts and mutual visits of the Friendship Groups functioning in the parliaments of the two countries, which will promote the deepening of relations and cooperation. The NA President has highly appreciated the balanced approach of Japan on the NK problem. He has also touched upon the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial, noting that there is a wish to erect a cross stone in Japan eternalizing the memory of the Genocide victims.

The NA President has ascertained that condemning the Armenian Genocide the progressive humanity of the world will promote the prevention of similar crimes.

Thanking for the reception Chikahito Harada, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan, has emphasized the successes during three and a half years and highly evaluated the role of the National Assembly in the development of the Armenian-Japanese relations. He has noted that he will personally take part in the planting ceremony of the Japanese cherry-trees, sakuras in the National Assembly Park and has expressed hope that the planting sakuras will symbolize the longevity of the two peoples’ friendship.

At the end of the meeting Galust Sahakyan wished Chikahito Harada new successes during his diplomatic mission.
