On May 8 the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs moderated by Elinar Vardanyan continued the debate of the RA Human Rights Defender (HRD) “On the Activities of the RA Human Rights Defender and the Violation of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms” according to the spheres.

At the sitting the RA Deputy Ombudsman Tatevik Khachatryan presented the reports concerning the RA Ministry of Education and Science, as well as the RA Ministry of Nature Protection and touched upon the shortcomings and problems existing in the sphere.

Responding to the report, the Head of the Professional Education of the Organization and Coordination of the Division of the Higher Education Department Sasun Melikyan has underlined that there are problems which need solution.

The HRD Office also made a report relating to the RA Ministry of Nature Protection. Referring to the achievements existing in the sphere the Deputy Ombudsman has noted that the Ministry has initiated elaboration and debate of the package of draft laws on amending the relevant legal acts.

Responding to the annual report of the HRD Office, the RA First Deputy Minister of the Nature Protection Simon Papyan recorded that some issues were enjoyed their attention through their report and essential changes were noticed in the sphere in 2015.

The Ombudsman’s last report related to Yerevan Municipality. The Deputy Ombudsman referred to the achievements and problems of the structure.

Responding to the Ombudsman’s report the First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Kamo Areyan noted the successes recorded in the report and the mentioned problems presenting the ways of their solution.

The RA Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan has summed up the presented 12 reports, stating that 167 systemized problems need urgent solution.

Wounding up the debates the RA Ombudsman’s report “On the Activities of the RA Human Rights Defender and the Violation of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms” the Committee Chair Elinar Vardanyan has noted that this is a new approach, as it gives opportunity the responsible institutions and the relevant bodies to submit their position connected with the Ombudsman’s report, as well as inform about their works for solving the submitted problems and accepting the recommendations and fulfilling them.
