On March 31 in the National Assembly a round table-discussion organized within the framework of the International Conference “Eurasian Economic Perspectives” was held, where the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan, the RF FA State Duma Speaker Sergey Narishkin, the RA Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, ministers and deputies attended it.

In his speech the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan has noted that the EEU practical evaluations create new bases of economic evaluations, and Armenia's joining that structure will become more competitive and attractive in the region. Armenia’s accession to the EEU will open new horizons, being a certain impetus of economic growth. Galust Sahakyan has stated that we should promote the escalation of integration process and improve the instruments. The NA Speaker has also highlighted the role of the society in the integration process. He has expressed confidence that the positive influence on Armenia’s accession to the EEU soon will be felt in different spheres.

The RF FA State Duma Speaker Sergey Narishkin has mentioned that Armenia’s accession to the EEU is also conditioned by cultural and economic centuries-old ties. According to Sergey Narishkin, with this membership the possibilities of the participant countries will increase in the work force market and in the sphere of goods turnover. He has stated that there is a lot to do, especially in the harmonization of the legislation of the member countries, however the expectations are great, and the future is promising. Sergey Narishkin has expressed hope that the Republic of Armenia will have its contribution to the establishment and development of the EEU.

In his word the RA Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan has noted that the Republic of Armenia observes the EEU as a format based on the goods, services, capital and ideas for work force free move and beneficial relations. The RA Prime Minister has added that Armenia is ready to invest its experience accumulated during the systemized and sub-structural reforms for the development of the integration processes. He has underlined that our superior problem is to justify the expectations of the peoples of the EEU member countries. and tangibly raise our citizens’ level of life and welfare.

The RA Vice Prime Minister, Minister of International Economic Integration Vache Gabrielyan has touched upon the peculiarities of Armenia’s membership, stating that the absence of the common border of the EEU member countries is a serious challenge, and the geographical position plays its decisive role in the economic life of our country.

The member of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Karine Minasyan has talked about the new opportunities being given to Armenia as a result of membership and has noted that our country should be integrated to the programmes, which have already been launched in other EEU member states. She has stated that Armenia has big potential especially in the spheres of agriculture and pharmacy.
