On February 2 the RA NA Deputy Speaker, the Head of Armenia-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group Eduard Sharmazanov met with Ioannis Tais, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to the Republic of Armenia.

Ioannis Tais has expressed satisfaction concerning the draft statement of the RA National Assembly, by which the Republic of Armenia recognizes and condemns the genocide perpetrated towards the Greeks and Assyrians in Ottoman Turkey in 1914-1923. The NA Deputy Speaker has noted that the goal of the draft initiated jointly with his colleagues to restore the historical justice, to internationally condemn the genocide, to protect the human rights, as well as to fight against the Turkish denial. Eduard Sharmazanov has expressed hope that the draft will enter into force in future.

At the meeting the NA Deputy Speaker and the Ambassador of Greece highlighted the necessity of holding an exhibition dedicated to the Armenian Genocide in the Hellenic Parliament.

The sides expressed conviction that after the parliamentary elections held recently in Greece the strengthening and the further development of the inter-parliamentary relations, particularly the friendship groups would continue.
