On December 19 the Head of the Committee on the RA NA Armenia-European Union Parliamentary Cooperation Samvel Farmanyan met with the delegation led by the Vice President of the European Parliament Riszard Czarnecki. The members of the Committee Margarit Yesayan, Edmon Marukyan, Stepan Margaryan, Levon Dokholyan and Tachat Vardapetyan attended the meeting.
The Head of the Committee Samvel Farmanyan has noted that Europe has been and remains the Armenian people’s big friend, and that the Armenian nation is the bearer of the European values and the civilization. To the deputy’s observation, the cooperation with the European Union is very important for Armenia: Europe is not only considered a trade-economic key partner, but also a political one. According to the speaker, Armenia continues to remain faithful to the initiative of deepening the cooperation with the EU in all possible directions. Besides, Armenia is sure that in future it will find the legal-contractual format on basis of which Armenia-EU future relations will be built.
The Head of the Committee has documented that the counterparts of the European Parliament have approached with comprehension to Armenia’s choice, which is a good precondition for developing and strengthening the bilateral relations, at the same time not contradicting other international commitments of Armenia.
The Vice President of the European Parliament Riszard Czarnecki has thanked the Committee members for the reception and has noted that he is for the first time in Armenia and impressed by our country. He has highlighted Armenia-European Union cooperation and has expressed confidence that the European Union will continue the partnership with Armenia in different spheres. The meetings with the political forces in Armenia have also been effective for Mr Czarnecki.
In the course of the meeting the other member deputies of the Committee also have talked about Armenia-European Union, noting that the accession to the EEU cannot impede the deepening of the relations with the EU.
