NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov Meets with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to the RA Ioannis Tayis

On November 25 the RA National Assembly Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov met with Ioannis Tayis, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to the Republic of Armenia.

The NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov has highly assessed the friendship of centuries-old history of the Armenian and Greek peoples, highlighting the balanced official position of Greece in the NK conflict settlement. In the relations of two countries and nations the interlocutors highlighted the rapprochement and the development of the inter-parliamentary relations, giving special importance to the activity of the parliamentary friendship groups.

Touching upon the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide the NA Vice President invited the Greece-Armenia Friendship Group to take part in the remembrance events. Moreover, Mr Sharmazanov proposed the Ambassador to organize exhibition of the photos on the Armenian Genocide in the Hellenic Parliament. He underlined that Armenia would do its best to condemn the crimes committed towards humanity. The Ambassador of Greece welcomed the holding of the exhibition dedicated to the Armenian Genocide.

Talking about the NK conflict the NA Vice President has noted that Armenia sees the settlement of the problem exclusively through peaceful means, in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group three Chairs. Eduard Sharmazanov has condemned the policy of the Azerbaijani side threatening the security and stability in the region.

The Ambassador of Greece Ioannis Tayis has underscored that Greece also sees the settlement of the NK conflict exclusively through peaceful means, in the Minsk Group format. Touching upon the Armenian Genocide issue he has qualified it as a big crime in the modern history.
