On October 7 the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Artak Davtyan met with the representatives of the Armenian Center for Democratic Education NGO.

The Executive Director of the NGO Alexander Shagafyan has presented the draft law of the educational concept of the democracy and human rights, noting that the program is three-phased and is financed by the UN. He has underlined that the organization expects the Committee members’ recommendations for improving the submitted concept. The Committee members together with Mr Davtyan have also discussed the possible amendments to the RA Law “On General Education.”

Highlighting the creation of democratic environment, the member of the Working Group of the Legislative Agenda Discussion Days Serob Khachatryan has noted that in that environment the pupils’ abilities and capabilities will be fully revealed.

Mr Davtyan has presented the example of the Tsaghkunk Village School of Gegharkunik Marz, where the democratic administration model effectively works.

Artak Davtyan proposed the NGO representatives to cooperate with the experts of the Committee led by him and submit a package of legislative recommendations in the future.
