RA NA President Galust Sahakyan’s Address on Constitution Day
1 / 1

“Dear compatriots,

I congratulate you on the occasion of Constitution Day, one of our most important public holidays.

A Constitution as a mother law is essentially considered a decisive document, guiding the country’s course, providing and ensuring the citizen’s rights and freedoms. Constitutional reforms required by the time become a vital necessity for the progress of public and political life. After the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and the amendments to it significant changes have been made in the interstate and public relations, in the political and economic sphere and in the people’s consciousness. And at present the constitutional amendments initiated by the RA President are aimed at making the process of our country’s development more consonant with the time.

The fact that different political discussions, disputes and clash of opinions take place about the proposed reforms witnesses at best the free and unimpeded exercise of human rights and freedoms stipulated by the Constitution, documenting that democracy among us is mature enough that the society passes a big school of political and civil development.

Dear compatriots,

The objective understanding of rights, obligations and freedoms, the responsible and conscious attitude of the citizen, state and society towards its own actions are an important pledge for Armenia’s progress. I am confident that remaining adhered to the genuine principles of democracy which complies with our people’s interests, together we will make our country stronger, more competitive and welfare.

I wish you peace, happiness, optimism and success for everybody’s family, for the welfare and development of our own country.”
