On July 2 the press conference of the representatives of the PAP, ANC, ARF and Heritage factions was held, where they touched upon the decision made by the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) on electricity tariff rise from August 1.

The member of the NA PAP faction Mikayel Melkumyan said that yesterday the representatives of the non-power quartet took part in the sitting of the PSRC on electricity tariff and presented arguments that we have reserves, the use of which would give an opportunity to avoid the tariff rise. By the reporter’s assessment, we should implement a financial recovery plan for hydro-electric networks and power stations. The Head of the Heritage faction Rubik Hakobyan noted that the quartet had never gone categorical refusal in the issues of the accumulative pension system, gas and electricity tariff rise connected with any decision. The Secretary of the ANC faction Aram Manukyan said that at the Commission sitting the quartet’s arguments were both political and financial. He has underscored that the quartet will be consistent for its statement. “We’ll cooperate with the public-political initiatives and as a result of the quartet’s joint decisions we’ll have decisions to submit,” he said.

Aram Manukyan has added that this item remains on the quartet’s agenda and in their requirements. According to the Head of the ARF faction Armen Rustamyan, the PSRC does not fulfill its functions stipulated by law. In his word, the motivating force of the economy should become the energy system, our country producing energy, and now it is under attack.
