On May 16 the NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan met with Andriy Shevchenko, the member of the Ukrainian Parliament, Kateryna Ryabiko, Officer at the OSCE/ODIHR Democratic Governance and Gender Issues Division and Jemma Hasratyan, Chair of the Association of Women with University Education.

Andriy Shevchenko noted that they had already met with the members of the four parliamentary factions and had discussed the issues concerning them. At his request Hermine Naghdalyan also presented the women’s involvement, activity and participation in the RPA while solving the problems of the party. Mrs Naghdalyan as Chairperson of the RPA Women’s Council  presented the shaping of the Council, the problems and programmes of its development.

The guests were especially interested in women’s advancement in the party platforms, in the local self-government bodies and the women’s representation in the lists of the party.

Mrs Naghdalyan expressed her concern with respect to the lack of the exchange of experience and proposed to organize a forum, where women from different countries would present the experience of their activities, the ways of advancement in parliaments, in local self-government bodies, in city and rural communities.
