On April 3 the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs Koryun Nahapetyan, the members of the Committee had been to the RA Traffic Police Department with a working visit, got acquainted with the works of the service and the procedure of the reforms made in the sphere.

During the meeting with the Head of the RA Traffic Police Department, Police Colonel Arsen Galstyan and the Heads of sub-divisions the NA deputies inquired about the results of the legislative reforms of the sphere, the necessity to reconsider the amount of administrative penalties imposed for traffic rules violations, statistics of traffic accidents after the installation of video cameras and speed-checking devices , the expediency and efficiency of the investment in such kind of technical means, tried to check the substantiation of citizens’ reports and the steps to reduce complaints.

The Committee Chairman has informed that on the initiative of the NA President Hovik Abrahamyan in the near future parliamentary hearings are going to be held on the problems regarding the Traffic Police and their aim is to get information on the sphere, get acquainted with the existing problems and hear new recommendations. According to him, for the benefit of effective management of the Traffic Police Department the legislative body and the Police need to cooperate actively and demonstrate mutual interest.

The NA deputies also visited the Centre for Records of Traffic Rules Violations and got familiarized with the peculiarities of the work.
