On February 24 the members of the NA Standing Committee on Agriculture and Environment met with the representatives of the NGO involved with the ecological problems. The goal of the meeting was to discuss problems connected with the Lake Sevan and the operation of Tukhmanuk gold mine.
According to the ecologists, the complex development programme of the restoration of fish reserves and fish breeding contradicts the RA Law “On the Lake Sevan.”
The next issue of the debate related to the activity of the “Mego Gold” Ltd operating Tukhmanuk gold mine.
On the same day the Committee also met with the farmers who had come from different marzes, expecting the support of those responsible for the sphere.
The Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Agriculture Martun Grigoryan assured the attendees that they would discuss, study the concerns and proposals, and if necessary, solve them by law.
