On February 27 the RA National Assembly continued the work of the four-day sittings.
By the proposal of the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan the deputies welcomed the teachers and the pupils of Yerevan Taras Shevchenko Senior School N 42 who were hosted in the parliament within the framework of Open Doors Programme and were following the NA sitting.
The parliament continued debating the NA draft decision “On Establishing an RA NA Inquiry Ad-Committee on the Events Undertaken by the RA Police, Special Investigative Service, the RA Prosecutor General Office for the Cases of Causing Ten Persons’ Murders, Gunshot and Other Bodily Injuries to the Civilians, Police Officers and Servicemen in the City of Yerevan on March 1-2, 2008 and Its Substantiation and Legality” authored by the deputies of the ANC faction. The deputies Samvel Farmanyan, Hayk Babukhanyan, Lyudmila Sargsyan, Alexander Arzumanyan, Nikol Pashinyan, Edmon Marukyan, Khosrov Harutyunyan, Margarit Yesayan, Aram Manukyan, Samvel Nikoyan, Artak Davtyan and Artsvik Minasyan presented their views on the abovementioned draft decision.
In this context the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan has informed the deputies that before beginning the debates of the draft decision he has talked to the RA Prosecutor General, who has ensured that in future numerous operative-investigative actions will be fulfilled, which are under control. The NA Speaker has noted that he himself and the RA Prosecutor are confident that in future the positive move will be visible.
The representatives of the NA factions (Head of the Heritage faction Rubik Hakobyan, Head of Rule of Law faction Heghine Bisharyan, Head of the ANC faction Levon Zurabyan, the Secretary of the PAP faction Naira Zohrabyan and the Head of the RPA faction Galust Sahakyan) presented their positions on the draft decision.
In his final speech Gagik Jhangiryan has noted that their goal has been to receive legal assessments for their questions.
The Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan submitted the package of the draft law “On the RA Investigative Committee” and related laws.
The debate of the issue will continue in the next four-day sittings.
