Meetings of the Indian Goodwill Parliamentary Delegation in the National Assembly

On October 30 the NA Armenia-India Friendship Group met with the Indian Goodwill Parliamentary Delegation. The delegation comprised of members of different parties of the Indian Parliament.

The Head of the NA Armenia-India Friendship Group Araik Hovhannisyan welcomed the guests in the parliament and presented the members of the Friendship Group. Araik Hovhannisyan talked about the Armenian-Indian centuries-old friendship, the Armenian community of India, and developing trade-economic relations. He has noted that there are big opportunities of cooperation in the spheres of newest technologies, education, and health care for the two states.

Welcoming the Armenian counterparts the Head of the Parliamentary Delegation Paban Singh Ghatowar noted that in the past the Armenians and Indians had stable friendly relations, but today they support in different international structures. He noted that in the Indian Parliament soon a Friendship Group with Armenia would be created, and the mutual visits would boost the development of parliamentary diplomacy. He added that they were planning to develop the cooperation in the spheres of education, culture, trade, economy, tourism, pharmacy, astrophysics and seismology.

On the same day the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Artak Davtyan met with the Indian Goodwill Parliamentary Delegation. The Head of the NA Armenia-India Friendship Group Araik Hovhannisyan also attended the meeting.

Artak Davtyan welcomed the guests highlighting the big role of the Indian culture and civilization in the history of mankind. He has noted that in the Armenian higher educational institutions about 700 Indian students study, who getting higher education, in future become the faithful friends of our country.

The Head of the Parliamentary Delegation Paban Singh Ghatowar talked about the centuries-old friendship of the Armenian and Indian peoples, the Indian-Armenian community and the city of Calcutta resided with Armenians. He has noted that today they work in bilateral recognition of the medical diplomas of the two countries. Mr Ghatowar has added that they are conducting negotiations over new programmes, and together with Hayastan All Armenian Fund and Tumo Centre for Creative Technologies they already cooperate.
