Meeting in the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations
1 / 1

On September 11 the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan met with Ilmars Solims, Adviser on EU Approximation and Administration of the EU Advisory Group to the RA, and Jose Mari Extebarria and Denis Badré, members of the European Democratic Party and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE).

Welcoming the guests Artak Zakaryan has noted that the RA National Assembly effectively cooperates with different international parliamentary structures, friendship groups, as well as European political parties. He expressed conviction that this visit would also help for having right and balanced, distinct pictures towards Armenia in the Alliance of Liberal-Democrats as a part of European political community.

At the guests’ request Artak Zakaryan touched upon the decision of Armenia to join the Customs Union and noted that it had been substantiated and free from external influences. In that context he noticed that joining the Customs Union could not negatively reflect on Armenia-European Union cooperation, as Armenia is ready to continue and develop the cooperation and dialogue formed with member countries of the European Union, different structures, as well as European different parties.

Artak Zakaryan also presented the regional situation and the relations and positions of Armenia on regional problems. It is also a starting point: stemming from it Armenia has adopted a purposeful and substantiated decision.

The members of the European Democratic Party expressed willingness to support the development and dialogue of Armenia-European Union further cooperation, as well as presented the stance of the Alliance of Liberal-Democrats and highlighted the balanced policy of Armenia.
