“Terian Poetry Days” in Gandza

On July 28 in the village of Gandza of Ninotsminda region the event “Terian Poetry Days” launched, which was held in the poet’s birthplace for 46 years.

In Saint Karapet Church of Gandza Holy Mass and a service for repose of souls was offered in memory of Vahan Terian.

The RA NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan, the RA Ambassador to Georgia Hovhannes Manukyan, the Minister of Culture of Georgia Manana Berikashvili, members of Armenia-Georgia Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation, the Chairman of the RA Writers’ Union Levon Ananyan, Georgian intellectuals and those like poetry of Terian.

The Chairman of the Armenian Writers’ Union of Georgia Zhora Snkhchyan was moderating the event.

The RA NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan welcomed and congratulated the attendees, evaluating the unique role of Vahan Terian's poetry in the Armenian Literature. She highlighted the holding of “Terian Poetry Day” in Gandza, where once again an opportunity was given to touch upon the Armenian acclaimed poet’s work, enjoy Terian’s poetry and inspire the young people with Terian’s breath.

Mrs Naghdalyan emphasized the role of the Armenian-Georgian centuries-old friendship of the Javakhk Armenians in being close to the Armenian culture and national roots.
