It has been 52 years World Theatre Day is celebrated in the world. And during recent years on that day “Artavazd” annual theatrical awarding ceremony is held, where awards are handed to the figures from the theatrical world.

On March 27 at Hakob Paronyan State Theatre of Musical Comedy  under the high patronage of the President of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan the next awarding ceremony was held. This year it was dedicated to the 125^th anniversary of the talented actor of Armenian stage Vahram Papazian. The RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan, Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan, theatrical figures were present at the event.

Congratulating the whole society who loves theatre, the Chairman of the Armenian Theatrical Figures’ Union Hakob Ghazanchyan has underlined that big work has been done in the theatrical life during recent years. He thanked Hovik Abrahamyan for his careful attitude towards the theatre.

On the occasion of the World Theatre Day the NA President Hovik Abrahamyan congratulated the devotees of stage art. He has highly appreciated the role of the theatre in the life of society, as it is one of the most important factors for the people’s spiritual and moral upbringing. “I am very glad that “Artavazd” awarding ceremony this year is dedicated to Vahram Papazian’s 125^th anniversary. Another great figure of our people’s culture, Martiros Sarian, speaking about Papazian’s art, cited: “When people speak about actor’s great art, I immediately imagine Papazian,” said the NA President. The Head of the Parliament has assured that he will always support the activity of the theatre. “We feel the lack of care towards theatre and in future we’ll try to rectify it,” said the NA President.

Then Artavazd prizes were handed to the actors and theatrical figures recognized as the best in different nominations for their more vivid theatrical works.
