NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs and the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces Sign a Memorandum of Understanding

On December 19 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs and the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF). Its goal is to provide the efficiency of the democratic control of the RA security. The Committee Chairman Koryun Nahapetyan and the Deputy Director DCAF Philipp Fluri signed the Memorandum.

The sides will cooperate in the sidelines of the committee activity for the rise of the legislative process, the elaboration and the investment of the civil control procedures in the armed forces, as well as for the organization of the visits of different institutions of power structures and the implementation of expertise works.

A Consultative Group adjunct to the Committee, which will carry out expertise activity, providing legislative consultancy and proposals, which will refer to the issues reserved to the authority of the Committee, the Geneva Centre will support the works of the Group.

The Committee Chairman Koryun Nahapetyan expressed conviction that the Memorandum would become a firm legal basis of effective cooperation between the sides and would ensure the continuity of cooperation of the sides in democratic control of the security sphere.
