On July 7 the delegation led by the RA NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan was on a working visit in Gyumri. The NA Vice Speaker Samvel Balasanyan, deputies, executive power representatives accompanied the NA Speaker. The NA Speaker visited Shirak Municipality and then Gyumri Town Hall. Hovik Abrahamyan made a tour in the Town Hall and got acquainted with the construction work done and in process.

After the delegation headed by the RA NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan also visited Trchunyants Tun Orphanage. The children of the orphanage met the NA Speaker with bread and salt. “We are glad that our children are remembered. Abandoned, socially insecure and children with a single parent live here,” Sona Simonyan, Director of the Center said in her talk with journalists. “Being in the centre of attention they are filled with the hope of making their dreams reality”.

The children of the Trchunyants Tun Orphanage, according to their capacities, attend different groups. They have presented their works to the exhibition of the orphanage. The presented works were also introduced to the NA Speaker, after which the children of the orphanage came up with songs and dances. The NA Speaker hasn’t gone there with empty hands: besides gifts and candies, he promised to appropriate 3 mln Armenian drams as a support to the orphanage. “When we promise something we keep it for 100%, that’s why we give moderate pledges. 3 mln Armenian drams will be transferred to the orphanage from the NA Speaker’s fund,” the Head of the Parliament ensured journalists.

The delegation led by the RA NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan attended the gala concert of the Republican Child and Youth Third Competition-Festival under the auspice of the NA Speaker. The festival is dedicated to the 95th birth anniversary of Hovhannes Shiraz. Prior to the event the NA Speaker visited the House-Museum of the poet, got acquainted with the exhibits, and the Director of the Museum told interesting stories from the life of the great poet and the genuine citizen of Gyumri.

In the event held in Vardan Achemyan Drama Theatre in Gyumri, welcoming the participants, the NA Speaker stated: “I am happy to be in the capital of crafts and arts, Gyumri. It is already the third year we are holding the Republican Recitation Competition-Festival. I believe we succeeded in doing it, because already in the third year we managed to involve about 26000-27000 pupils, among which love towards Armenian literature and Armenian poetry has been restored. I am glad that the third festival has begun and is ending in Gyumri. This festival has gained greater value, being dedicated to the 95th birth anniversary of Shiraz.

The NA Vice Speaker Samvel Balasanyan also welcomed the reciting pupils: “Today is a day of joy for us, the residents of Gyumri. Looking at their faces I feel that something good is happening. We are glad that the competition is held here. Gyumri is a city of celebrities, the city of Mher Mkrtchyan (well-known actor) and Shiraz (acclaimed poet). Hovik Abrahamyan reveals new talents.”

“In the city of crafts and arts poetry is soaring. It seems Shiraz has come back to Gyumri. It’s a great honour for me to be here today,” the jury member, NA deputy Tatchat Vardapetyan said, thanking the NA Speaker for holding such event under his auspice.

After summing the outcomes of the Competition-Festival two participants have been awarded for the first, second and third places of the competition in two peer groups. Encouragement prizes were also handed over. And the Grand Prix, like it was last year, was again awarded the representative of Kotayk Marz, who received the prize personally from the NA Speaker. “I am proud that we have such pupils, future Shirazes, Isahakyans,” the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan said handing over the main prizes of the Competition Festival during the gala concert. He thanked the residents of Gyumri, all the participants of the festival, their pedagogues, parents, organizers of the festival, governors of the Marzes and unbiased and conscientious juries. According to the Head of the legislative body, the festival should be of continuous character because it is important for our people.

At the end of the working visit to Gyumri the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan visited the Territorial Organization Office of the RPA in Shirak Marz, where he had a meeting with his party colleagues, discussing different issues.
