On June 29 the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan received a group of students from Armenian State University of Economics, who would receive the National Assembly Speaker’s scholarship starting from January of this year. It has been constituted on the initiative of Hovik Abrahamyan, the NA Speaker, the President of the Council of Armenian State University of Economics (ASUE), and would be given to 20 students showing academic progress and public activeness. Artak Davtyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Koryun Atoyan, President of ASUE, attended the meeting.
The NA Speaker noted that the authorities highlighted the role of education and science and tried within the limits of possibility to show maximum support to those spheres. In the NA Speaker’s words, education is the reliable basis, on which the welfare of the country is built; more financial means should be directed to education and science, which should be efficiently used. Hovik Abrahamyan mentioned that providing the National Assembly Speaker’s scholarships were aimed at encouraging the attitude towards science, education among the students, the youth, and those scholarships should be also perceived as a moral support.
The free, warm and sincere talk between the Parliament Speaker and the students gave an opportunity to the latter in causal atmosphere to raise problems concerning them, to learn about the NA Speaker’s positions and views on them. The students’ interpellations related to jobs, the education and practice link, educational processes and other themes. Hovik Abrahamyan considered important obtaining high quality education and becoming a qualified specialist. For it, it is also necessary to get practical knowledge in the course of receiving theoretical knowledge during the educational years, cooperating with state and private enterprises and companies of different spheres. Hovik Abrahamyan expressed willingness to support that process.
The students also touched upon the issues of having auditoriums furnished with modern technologies and the lack of necessary educational literature, to the solution of which Hovik Abrahamyan also promised to show practical support.
At the end of the meeting the President of ASUE Koryun Atoyan thanked Hovik Abrahamyan on behalf of the staff and the students of the higher educational institution for the support to be shown. The NA Speaker expressed willingness to further continue such meetings and contacts with students.
