RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan Receives the Delegation of the Constitutional Court of Serbia

On April 28 RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan received the delegation headed by the President of the Constitutional Court (CC) of the Republic of Serbia Dragisa B. Slijepcevic.The President of RA Constitutional Court Gagik Harutyunyan attended the meeting.

Welcoming the guests RA NA Speaker noted that the relations between Armenia and Serbia have considerably been activated. The mutual visits of the presidents of the two countries at high level paid during the last two years, which gave a progressive nature to the development of the bilateral relations. Steps are also taken in activating the inter-parliamentary relations. Armenia-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group functions in RA Parliament. It is planned that RA NA Speaker would have an official visit to Serbia at the invitation of the Speaker of the Parliament of Serbia Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic.

The CC President of Serbia thanked the NA Speaker for hosting them in the National Assembly and expressed conviction that their visit to Armenia, which reaffirms the friendly relations of the two countries, would promote the deepening of cooperation.

At the guests’ request the NA Speaker touched upon the cooperation of the National Assembly and the Constitutional Court, noting that a working group had been set up, which in operative way responds the decisions in the Constitutional Court. It has been the third year that the group effectively works with the CC.

Positively assessing the activity of the working group and the cooperation of the two structures RA CC President Gagik Harutyunyan said that together with NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan they had initiated a conference of the representatives of the constitutional courts and parliaments of the European countries, which was successfully held in Yerevan.

The President of the Constitutional Court of Serbia Dragisa B. Slijepcevic considered useful the experience of cooperation of the National Assembly of Armenia and Constitutional Court, noting that it would be exemplary for them.

After the meeting the Serbian guests went to the reconstructed session hall of RA National Assembly. NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan presented them the work order and activity of the parliament, noting that the NA works transparent and seeks to make closer the relation with the public.
