On December 7 Mr. Artur Aghabekyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia met the delegation, led by the director of the cooperation and security department of the NATO international military headquarters, major general George Lebel.

The works for the implementation of the Armenia-NATO cooperation to be more productive and continuous, the issues related to regional security, the peace settlement of the Karabakh problem, the creation of situational center and issues related to the participation of Armenian military units in international peacekeeping forces were discussed during the meeting. Mr. Aghabekyan informed the major general that the law on investment of civil service in the sphere of Defense Ministry in Armenia was adopted, the law on defense is undergoing an expert examination, by which the functions of defense headquarters will be separated, the ways of control of the National Assembly na democratic on armed forces will be clarified. A new start will also be given for productive realization of the IPAP program by that law.

Mr. Lebel expressed satisfaction for Armenia’s consistent and productive works done in the framework of cooperation.

Both sides assured that the Armenia-NATO cooperation in favor of peace will be continuous.
