On November 1 Chairwoman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Mrs. Hranush Hakobyan met with the Deputy Chief of the US Mission to Armenia Mr. Anthony Godfrey and the US Embassy Expert on Political-Economic Affairs Ms. Masha Herbst.

Mr. Godfrey noted that fighting the trafficking has become one of the important issues of different international organizations and countries. Although the RA Government intends to elaborate a new national program of fighting the trafficking, no practical steps have been taken up to now, since no means have been allocated from the state budget for that purpose.

The Deputy Chief of the US Mission assured that his country is interested in that issue, and in case a certain sum is allocated from the RA state budget to solve that problem, the US and UNDP are ready to provide active financial assistance.

Mrs. Hakobyan agreed that this phenomenon is available in our reality. So, the measures have to be undertaken to eradicate that, national programs should be consistently carried out, we have to join international organizations, which regulate the sphere; we have to regulate the legislative field, establish close ties with international organizations working on that issue. She expressed readiness to assist in the solution of the financial problem as well by applying to the RA Government on that issue.
It was decided to make the cooperation continuous and undertake practical measures for the program implementation.
