Foreign Minister of Lithuania to Alen Simonyan: Lithuania is ready to support in any way the peace process
1 / 6

On April 17, within the framework of the official visit the delegation led by the RA NA President Alen Simonyan met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis.

The meeting began with the discussion of the security problems existing in the region. Reference was made to the security situation in Eastern Europe and in the South Caucasus.

Alen Simonyan presented to the Lithuanian diplomat the Crossroads of Peace project being proposed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia, underscoring the importance of the programme for the establishment of peace in the South Caucasus and for the countries of the region in the context of creating trade-economic opportunities.

“The Crossroads of Peace project is our roadmap to peace. The goal of the project is the development of the regional communications on the principles of sovereignty, reciprocity and equality, which will essentially improve both the economic and security situation,” Alen Simonyan noted.

The interlocutors exchanged ideas on the settlement of the Armenian-Turkish, Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, the problem of Armenian prisoners of war being held in Azerbaijan.

“Lithuania is ready to support in any way the peace process,” Gabrielius Landsbergis noted.

Reference was made to the rapprochement of the Armenia-EU relations, particularly in the defensive and trade-economic spheres.

At the end of the meeting Alen Simonyan left a note in the Book of Honourable Guests of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.
