Bill envisaging amendments in law on Social Protection of Children Left Without Parental Care endorsed
1 / 7

The draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Social Protection of Children Left Without Parental Care was debated in the second reading at the extraordinary sitting of the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs on June 26.

The key rapporteur, the RA Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Tatevik Stepanyan noted that the initiative proposes to extend the period of study to the end of studies for children without parental care or persons belonging to their number in the higher educational institutions free of charge until the age of 23.

The Deputy Minister mentioned that the circumstances of male representatives being drafted into the army and continuing their studies after returning were taken into consideration: sometimes it turns out that the age limit is already exceeded unintentionally and the citizen is deprived of social guarantees. It is also proposed to include in this regulation the students who are on maternity leave, as well as the students who have children under 3 years of age without parental care.

No proposals were submitted during the period from the first to the second reading.

The Committee endorsed the draft law.
