Minister of Economy: Field of accreditation to be brought in line with international standards with amendments in laws
1 / 3

The necessity for the adoption of the package of drafts on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Accreditation and on Amending the RA Code on Administrative Offenses is conditioned by the membership of the National Accreditation Body (NAB) to European and international accreditation organizations and certain differences and changes in joining the EAEU Accession Treaty, as well as in general to raise certain structures to a completely new level in Armenia: the RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan stated presenting the package of drafts for debate at May 17 sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs in the second reading.

According to Vahan Kerobyan, there are currently around 70 conformity assessment bodies operating in our country. The amendments in laws will bring the sector into line with the relevant international standard, providing for a legislative conclusion from the EU assessors in the future.

The Minister of Economy mentioned that the aim of the initiative is the modernization and improvement of the Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) and the integration into the EAEU and the international accreditation system, including the conclusion of mutual recognition agreements as a result of accreditation.

Vahan Kerobyan informed that after the first reading, the Government presented two proposals of a technical nature, which were adopted.

As a result of the debate, the revised legislative package was endorsed.
