Parliament passes debated legislative initiatives

At May 3 sitting, the parliament in the second reading debated the revised draft of the law on Making Addenda and Amendments to the law on Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activity with the enclosed legislative package.

The legislative initiative is aimed at the reform of the spheres of higher education and science will solve a number of problems. The first of them is the compliance of the statistics and policy being implemented in the field of science to the international standards. A number of notions are set for that.

It is designed with other amendment to form Higher Education and Science Committee on the basis of the Higher Qualification Committee, Science Committee and the Higher Education and Post-Graduate Specialized Department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.

As the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan informed, after being passed it two proposals were received, which were partially adopted. The deputies of the NA Civil Contract Faction Narek Babayan and Sisak Gabrielyan presented proposals in written form. “One of the proposals referred to the inclusion of the provision on terminating the authorities of the person appointed in the position of the Head of the scientific organization or the person appointed in the position of the Head of the scientific organization as a result of election, which was accepted. The second proposal has been related to the provisions on Academy, to which the author, the Government will touch upon during the more complete discussions,” the Minister said.

The NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport endorsed the draft.

The parliament passed the legislative initiatives debated today and on the previous day.
