Bruno Retailleau: Armenian Genocide Should Not Be forgotten
1 / 4

We have come to be next to Armenian people today, on this remembrance day. The Senate of France has been the first to adopt the document on recognizing the Armenian Genocide, and we are very proud on that occasion: the Head of the Republicans Faction of the Senate of the Republic of France Bruno Retailleau said. The delegation led by him accompanied by the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan visited Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex.

Regarding the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the Head of the delegation has noted that their position towards Turkey is clear and distinct, but Turkey denies what has happened, which is unacceptable.

According to him, to prevent the genocides we should remember the past, but it is not sufficient. The international criminal court should condemn and punish the countries that committed such crimes.

In this context the French parliamentarian mentioned: “What today takes place against Artsakh is a fact of ethnic cleansing.”

The guests laid a wreath and flowers at the Eternal Fire perpetuating the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims and honoured in silence the memory of Holy Martyrs
