It is symbolic that your visit to our country takes place on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Slovakia. During these years Armenia and Slovakia developed the relations, but in a number of spheres there is unrealized potential. The Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the RA National Assembly Sargis Khandanyan said about this during the meeting with the delegation led by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Slovakia Marián Kéry.

Highlighting the inter-parliamentary cooperation with Slovakia, Sargis Khandanyan noted that similar visits promote the expansion of bilateral cooperation. The Committee Chair valued the Armenian-Slovakian cooperation on the international platforms.

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Slovakia thanked Sargis Khandanyan for reception and the invitation to visit Armenia. According to Marián Kéry, the cooperation between Slovakia and Armenia is at high level. The guest noted that in 2020, the opening of the representation of Slovakia in Armenia contributed to the development of the bilateral trade ties.

The member of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Maria Karapetyan touched upon the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan and because of that the humanitarian and food problems facing 120.000 Armenian population. Speaking about the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the MP documented that it was eased due the implementation of the Civilian Observation Mission of the European Union. Maria Karapetyan also underscored the necessity of the availability of the International Observation Mission in Nagorno Karabakh.

Sargis Khandanyan thanked his Slovak colleagues for adopting resolutions on the military crimes committed by Azerbaijan, the illegal holding of Armenian prisoners of war and other problems regarding the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
