The economic growth and developments recorded in 2022 have given an opportunity to improve the debt/GDP (gross domestic product) ratio. According to the Government programme, it was aimed to lower it below 60 % in 2026, but significant improvement was registered in the results of 2022: the debt/GDP ratio was reduced to 46.7 % by the end of the year. The RA Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan stated about this at March 15 sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs. The report on the implementation process and the results of the RA Government programme (2021-2026) in 2022 was debated.
The above mentioned indicator was influenced by three main circumstances: the economic growth rate, the exchange rate, and the lower level of the deficit. An improvement was also recorded in the share of debt in Armenian dram. The Minister informed that a number of tax amendments are also designed.
