Legislative Proposal Aimed at Elaboration of Anti-Doping Policy, the Definition of Notion ‘Doping’

The deputy of the National Assembly Sisak Gabrielyan proposes amendments and addenda to the law on Physical Training and Sport. The draft is aimed at the definition of the elaboration of ant-doping policy and the notion ‘doping.’ The inner-state legislation is complied with the international standards, in order our athletes will not be deprived and be disqualified from the opportunity of taking part in the international tournaments. Sisak Gabrielyan added that meetings are regularly held with the representatives of the sports sphere, particularly the representatives of the Olympic Winter Sports Federation are invited to parliament, and a number of issues are discussed and solved with the counterparts of the Government.

Sisak Gabrielayn also informed that this year it is designed to introduce that attestation process also for the coaches of the sports school. At the preliminary phase, in April-May, the attestation of the coaches of several sports will take place. It is designed to increase the salaries through voluntary attestation.

In his so-report, the deputy Hakob Aslanyan informed about the endorsement of the NA Standing Committee on Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport.

The fight announced against doping is merciless and completely justified what does the World Anti-Doping Agency, which can deprive this or that country from the right of taking part in the competitions: the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Karen Giloyan said. He noted that the Government fights against doping, and does not encourage at all any success gained in that way. The Deputy Minister informed that next year a Forum of UNESCO and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) will be held in our country, which will promote the increase of the role of Armenia un this sphere.

The deputy Artur Hovhannisyan inquired if there is a doping problem in our country. The Deputy Minister documented that the Anti-Doping Agency of Armenia has high rating in the World Anti-Doping Agency, conducts international checks. He mentioned that in recent years positive doping answers were recorded in our country.

The question of the deputy Mikayel Tumasyan related to the perspectives of the construction of the complex sports schools. Presenting the steps taken, Karen Giloyan informed that the Government carried out massive construction activities. “In our sport capital, Gyumri we’ll have a hall corresponding with international standards,” the Deputy Minister underscored. It was noted that in Yerevan the constructions of the sport schools of Cycling and Artistic Gymnastics is underway, it must be commissioned in December 2024. Kilikia Sports Hall is fundamentally under repair. In Artashat the construction of the athletic part of the stadium is coming to an end. According to the Deputy Minister, playing fields with 300 seats and playing hall fast collecting and corresponding withal standards will be installed in Yerevan and in the marzes by the draft decision being circulated by the Government.

The deputy Gegham Nazaryan referred to the steps aimed at raising efficiency of teaching physical education subject. Karen Giloyan agreed that in many schools various programmes are carried out, an attempt is made to make the teaching of physical education not only tempting, but also raise the useful action factor.
