On December 9, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Eduard Aghajanyan met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to Armenia Smail Benamara.
Welcoming the guest in parliament, Eduard Aghajanyan c ongratulat ed him on the occasion of being appointed Ambassador .
“This year is a jubilee year in the history of our relations: in December the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Algeria turn s. However, unfortunately, during these years, the whole potential of cooperation that would be useful for the two countries was not fully used,” the Committee Chair said, adding that there is huge work to be done in this direction.
Eduard Aghajanyan noted that the activities of the Friendship Groups is one of the best tools of the parliamentary diplomacy, and as a first step, proposed to discuss the issue of forming bilateral Parliamentary Friendship Groups.
Smail Benamara thanked Eduard Aghajanyan for warm reception. He also was for the development of the inter-parliamentary relations, as well as activating the cultural, educational and scientific contacts.
Eduard Aghajanyan presented to the Ambassador the existing security fragile situation in the region, highlighting the establishment of the stable peace.
Issues regarding the possibilities of cooperation in a number of spheres. In particular, the issue of boosting the cooperation in the economic spheres was stressed.
