At the regular sitting convened on March 15, chaired by Heriknaz Tigranyan, the RA NA Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs debated in the first reading the draft law on Making Amendments and Addendum to the Law on Temporary Disability and Maternity Benefits.

According to the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Davit Khachatryan, the purpose of the draft is to regulate the problems that have arisen in law enforcement practice. The draft proposes not to link the calculation of working days for the provision of sickness benefits and the extension of the period of temporary disability to the definition of a disability group or the revision of the group.

The Committee also debated in the first reading the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Identification of and Support to Persons Subjected to Trafficking in Human Beings and Exploitation.

The RA Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Tatevik Stepanyan informed that the aim of the draft law is to envisage necessary authorizing norms in the Law on Identification of and Support to Persons Subjected to Trafficking in Human Beings and Exploitation, on the basis of which relevant by-laws will be adopted: the RA Government decisions and orders of the RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, as well as the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.

It is planned to regulate the problems that have arisen during the use of the law, as well as to bring the law in line with the new RA Criminal Code.

The deputies presented proposals, some of them were accepted by the author.

The draft laws were adopted by the Committee. It will be proposed to include them in the draft agenda of the third session of the NA eighth convocation.
